The World’s
Best Scotch Whisky
When it comes to the area of exports, Scotch whisky
encompasses about ninety percent of total export sales put
together in England and it is a dominant export commodity. Now
the income so generated, is for the most part, in foreign
currency. It was since the beginning of the nineteenth
century, when the true significance of marketing the product
abroad was determined, that this particular trend has been
persisted with.
According to statistics between fifteen-twenty percent of the
total Scotch whisky that is drunk in Scotland is at first
picked up from Britain. Even though the cause for this is
undetermined, they do not give it a second thought because
their Scotch appears to be very famous in other countries.
Based on the available information, it is confirmed that
scotch whisky constitutes one of the top five revenue earners
and generates a substantial profit while making sizeable
foreign exchange contributions to Britain.
Something like two hundred markets are listed on the Scotch
whisky exchange, with the powerful European Union being the
forerunner competing for the top position along with Japan,
the United States, and various other markets of Asia closely
following. No less than fifty percent of all sales of Scotch
whiskey are accounted for by the European Union with the
remaining countries totaling up another forty percent.
A nine-year forecast of sales is kept in reserve of the scotch
stock that is maturing or has matured by now. Matured scotch
stock, in the year 1996, was placed at around two thousand
seven hundred and forty one million liters, which translates
to a tenfold increase from the year 1945, when it was at two
hundred and forty seven million liters. In fact, way back in
1939, the stock was much higher at around three hundred and
seventy four million liters. Apparently, the market for Scotch
whiskey is expected to increase on the basis of the maturing
stock amount.
It is quite a complicated business, to conduct stock trading
with a manufacturer of Scotch whiskey, while they simply park
themselves and pass time endlessly, patiently waiting for the
product to mature. In addition, they are unable to garner
information on the kind of market conditions that their
product will have to face, several years from now. This
definitely constitutes a commercial problem. Perhaps, the most
noteworthy activity is capital investment of the maturing
scotch stock.
Well, there is tiny quantity of excellent scotch that in fact
finds its way into several other countries from Scotland.
Freshly filled bottles as well as matured whiskies are
tantalizing profit snatchers; on the other hand, the time
taken by this product to be sold in the marketplace, and start
to generate the stated profits, renders this an extremely
dicey venture. Further, it is difficult to find out whether
the value of the commodities will remain the same in the
future or not.
