Tossing One Back – The Art of Drinking Whisky

Though there are no firm and fixed rules where drinking of whisky is concerned, still you need have some things committed to memory in order to relish the experience. However, attention should be drawn to the fact that even if the ground rules are not complied with, there is absolutely no reason why this supreme spirit cannot be wallowed in.

One point to be noted is that ice should never be added to a fine dram since it destroys the flavor and scent. On the other hand, there are some persons who are all for it. The glass, which was initially made to receive an excellent malt whisky, has a broad opening and then it gradually slants in since it is not at ease taking in a layer of ice, because the objective is to keep away from this procedure. This particular glass is referred to by many people as a tumbler.

If you are opting for excellent malt, then the price, as is the case with most things, will without a doubt be a sign of the quality you acquire, because with scotch, you are inclined to receive what you pick up the tab for. Though there is a diverse range of alcoholic products on offer for a low price that gives you a buzz, then again, fine scotch needs to gently sipped and savored.

Now fine malt generally does not make a suitable partner for a blending session and soda is far from being its favorite. Malt tastes good with ordinary bottled water. But, the best bet with excellent malt would undeniably be bottled mineral water. Malt takes to it without any further dilly-dallying.

Whisky, which contains about forty-sixty percent alcohol, is certainly a potent spirit, and it will surely catch the interest of those quite raw in having it. Tossing in a splash of mineral water tends to moderate the knock, so as to say, and tranquilize its hard-hitting spirit. The expression “the whisky will open itself” which is often used, refers to the pure scent that is discharged when water is put in and hence even a couple of drops will clearly move even seasoned malt drinkers to ecstasy.

The amazing thing with reference to the cask potency is that at more or less sixty percent alcohol for every volume rate, whisky is one powerful drink, which permits the drinker to temper it to a suitable level of alcohol in order to match his individual taste, thus making whisky the perfect drink to be made to order.

The producers of these great beverages suggest that in order to really savor it, you should imbibe a little mouthful and keep it in the mouth swivel it around the tongue allowing it to take time to settle. This is when you will fully appreciate the real character of this great malt.

As a final point, it is stated that after you take a swallow, you will be able to tell precisely how mature the whisky is by the length of the time it remains inside your mouth.
